Fresh design
The design of the new Himalayan 450 is recognizable from the Himalayan 411. However, Royal Enfield has refreshed the design of the motorcycle while maintaining the similarities. New engine
Beneath the new bodywork is an all-new 450 cc engine. This is Royal Enfield’s first engine to be liquid sealed and has a performance of 40 bhp and 40 Nm. It gets a six-speed gearbox with a smooth and slipper clutch.

Segment-first features
While the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 offers full LED lighting for the turn signals, headlight and tail lamp, there is also an important segment-first feature with this motorcycle – the color TFT screen. Compared to most offerings these days, the display on the new Himalayan is round.

Then, it comes integrated with Google Maps which smartly shows speed, distance and fuel level located above a panel. This display, due to its Bluetooth connectivity, allows riders to access call and text alerts. Additionally, the Himalayan 450 also features switchable ABS and ride-by-wire throttle.

Hardware
The Himalayan 450 weighs 196 kg; It is a few kilos lighter than the 411 while fuel tank capacity has been increased to 17 litres. The standard seat height of this ADV is 825 mm but it can be lowered and raised significantly. And, the ground clearance and wheelbase stand at 230 mm and 1,510 mm. Talking about the bicycle parts, the Himalayan 450 rides on a 21-17-inch spoke wheel combination with suspended Showa USD forks and monoshock, while braking is handled by a single disc at both ends.

Price and Variants
Now, Royal Enfield has listed four variants of the Himalayan 450. There’s Base, Slate, Summit and Hunley Black. The price for the base is Rs 2.69 lakh while the slate will set you back a whopping Rs 2.74 lakh. On the other hand, the Summit is priced at Rs 2.79 lakh. Finally, Royal Enfield has priced the top-spec Hanley Black at Rs 2.84 lakh, ex-showroom. Apart from the color on offer, there is no difference between the variants.

Despite this, the Himalayan’s pricing undercuts its rivals by a lot. Prices for the KTM 390 Adventure start at Rs 2.80 lakh while the BMW G310 GS will set you back Rs 3.30 lakh, ex-showroom.
